Today was our third day at Jose Quiñones and it was an awesome one. First we split up into groups, different from yesterday, and went to another English class to speak and hang out with the students. Today, I was in the lowest level class of English but it was just as cool. They all spoke reasonably well but most of them were very shy to speak in English and much preferred to speak to us in Spanish. We went back and forth, speaking in both languages, for the whole class period and it was awesome to get to know another group of students at the FAP school.
After the English classes, we met back in what I think was the cafeteria (or one of them), for another lecture. This one was called "Emancipation and Independence of Perú," and was more interactive than yesterday's. We did some arts and crafts projects, making the peruvian flag and assembling the speech from scrambled words that San Martin gave when he declared Peru's independence. I hadn't used a glue stick in probably 8 years, so that was awesome. Then, after the lecture, we went outside and played a giant game of soccer on the school field. It was a pretty equal mix of Northeastern students and Jose Quiñones students, both boys and girls. We played for about an hour and it was an absolute blast.
